This year, dramatic mezzo-soprano Carli Walker joined Pacific Opera, Sydney, as a Telstra Wholesale Young Artist 2010. As such, she has performed as a concert soloist and as Gertrude (Mother) in Pacific Opera's production of Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel.
In 2009, she travelled to Perleberg, Germany, as a participant in the Lotte Lehmann Akademie – “an intensive 4-week program for exceptional singers preparing for a career on the international operatic stage”.
Carli holds a B.Mus(Hons), B.Arts (Creative-Music) and Dip.Perf.(IMEB) and has appeared in stage and concert works throughout the Toowoomba area.
Productions in which Carli has appeared include The Yeoman of the Guard, The Beggar’s Opera, Carousel and Cosi fan Tutte. Carli has appeared as a soloist with the USQ Singers, Toowoomba Concert Orchestra, Toowoomba Philharmonic Society and Ars Cantorum. She has also performed with the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Victoria in Melbourne.
Carli has been a member of the Opera Queensland Chorus for several years, performing in such operas as Lucia di Lammermoor (2006), Madama Butterfly (2007), Turandot (2008) and La Traviata (2009).
